Street bug

I had to walk down West 25th Street in Chelsea, NY nearly every day whilst I was away this summer.

On the last day I did it, I took a look at this signpost right outside the door to Black Frame.

and noticed that little guy! I guess he'd been there the whole time.

Kind of reminds me of Little People a bit, except a little different.

Innocent Prize

I sent a picture to @innocentdrinks the other week which resulted in my getting a small prize. It was a picture of the Age Concern Hats which had just started going out in Sainsburys Central on Queen Street.

I've started getting into a bit more of this kind of thing - it's fun, and also interesting seeing how these kinds of things run. Hopefully it will give me more idea of digital campaign stuff without me really noticing. I'm going to have a go at Live Guy on Tuesday too.

My picture was rubbish though, definitely not up to Innocent standards.

Smoothie-hats

And it got featured on the Innocent Blog, which is always fun times.

And look what (I'm presuming) Mr Dan Germain sent in return! ...

Thanks Innocent! The brand book will actually be really useful for my dissertation, which WILL be at first draft stage by the end of this week, so muchly appreciated.

I'll try harder on the picture next time.

News Ahoy!

I seem to remember being suspicious of facebook at first but once I actually got an account being pretty much sold on it from day one, and using it pretty much ever since.

I saw some murmurings on mini-feeds last week about a 'pirate' setting, and thought it was just another one of many apps that people keep inviting you to join.

It turns out that you can, actually, officially change your language setting to 'pirate' for the whole site!

Pirate1
Pirate2
Pirate3
Pirate4
It's the little changes that are the most amusing to me, for example the 'arrrcount' settings on the bottom right-hand corner, the 'bewitched portraits', the 'abandon ship' log out link. It'll be interesting to see if I get bored of it, perhaps by then there'll be a jedi setting or something else to keep me occupied.

But I like how facebook have managed to bring humour into the interface, brightening it up without taking away any of its functionality. Rum all round!

Why not take a plunge and give it a go yourself!

New York Rooftops

A while ago I remember seeing a nod to this flikr group.

NYC Rooftop picture by jwilly on Flikr
'Rich People Rooftops NYC' features some awesome shots of roofs I would love to own, especially in the great weather we've had here all summer. It seems like unless you have access to one of the few community garden spaces on empty building plots around the city, you're probably not going to be doing much gardening.

But it's not all bad, check out the roof of the block I've been staying in these past few months:

The view from my NY rooftop
No greenery, but an amazing view. I'll be sad to leave such a lovely apartment and such lovely new friends.

My flight home is this Sunday, after which I can look forward to a week of rain and dissertation writing, grad scheme application writing, and I'll hopefully getting back into the blogging.

flappy friend

I've been honoured by the company of this little beauty tonight:

Moth

I can't work out if it is a Common White Wave or not.

It's been sat in that spot for about 2 hours now. Alison's just pointed out that it's sitting on the pictures of butterflies from the Summer Ball fliers!

I wonder if it's making new friends?

The Girl Effect

Found via swissmiss , a beautiful video with a powerful message.

Isn't today the birthday of Feminism, or something? Not sure how this relates, but a good point well made. Find out more at the girl effect.
