New York Rooftops

A while ago I remember seeing a nod to this flikr group.

'Rich People Rooftops NYC' features some awesome shots of roofs I would love to own, especially in the great weather we've had here all summer. It seems like unless you have access to one of the few community garden spaces on empty building plots around the city, you're probably not going to be doing much gardening.

But it's not all bad, check out the roof of the block I've been staying in these past few months:

The view from my NY rooftop
No greenery, but an amazing view. I'll be sad to leave such a lovely apartment and such lovely new friends.

My flight home is this Sunday, after which I can look forward to a week of rain and dissertation writing, grad scheme application writing, and I'll hopefully getting back into the blogging.

forced absence

Sad-osx

So I just want to say, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything for ages. Basically, long story short, my computer is in the repair shop for the second time since I got here and it's not really appropriate to blog at any other available computers out here.

In fairness, the apple store on W14th have been really easy to deal with and have made the whole process a lot less stressful than I'm used to in Cardiff.

But I have a ton of posts to post.

Normal service resumes soon.

I'm also really sorry for the dodgy manipulation above. I'm putting it down to not having enough time on this mac to get it right. Sorry.

I'm off to be a part of it

Thisisit

So tomorrow (well, in about 5 hours) I set off on my little adventure across the pond. I've been making quite a big deal of it with friends, which means I must be quite excited, but it hasn't quite sunk in that I'm actually going. Even writing this now, it's still seeming a long way off. I think it will be this way until I step out of terminal 8 at JFK.

I had the idea around May last year that it would be good, considering the kind of work I'm hoping to go into when I leave Uni, to get a feel for New York and The States in terms of the kind of advertising, press and design work that goes on there. So I'll be visiting all the museums I can, all the galleries, all the shows. I'll be meeting up with the friends I have there and hopefully making new ones. I'll be popping into Black Frame to see what they get up to, and hopefully meeting other great creative minds that I can learn from.

It's an educational holiday. This time next year I'll be (hopefully) a recent graduate with no prospects and a diminishing overdraft limit, so if I want to jet about the place, I need to do it now. Next year is for a job.

I'm also hoping to get up to Toronto, and Boston's meant to be good. Generally moving about that top corner there. Alison's stopping by for a weekend on her way home from California. Fun times.

So expect intermittent service from here on in. If it's anything like last time, I'll either be seeing too much to write about it, or have run out of money to pay to see it...

Best looking car ever

Well, maybe not ever, but I think this car looks amazing! Look!

Cube1
Cube2
Cube3

It's a Nissan Cube, I saw it on the way home from Uni today. It seems they're currently import only :(

I should also mention that it's really rather small, the pictures don't do it justice. Apparently, the chassis is the same size as a ford fiesta!
